I'm looking to get a 180 gallon tank.

How's the silicone work that the NAFB guy does? I have read many times that his tanks are significantly cheaper then readymade LFS tanks. Is there a reason? I currently have an oceanic tank and I wouldn't want a super sloppy job compared to an oceanic =)

And on a 72x24x24 tank. How thick should the glass be? 1/2 inch? Does the bottom panel need to be thicker?

Also... I need to get a new skimmer when upgrading the tank. I was thinking of an H&S skimmer. has anyone used one of those? Are they loud/quiet compared to venturi skimmers? Can you easily keep SPS using them? Should I wait for the new Euro-reef 2nd generation motors to come out soon?... If anyone knows any information on the new motors from ER I'd appreciate any information =)

Lastly, where can I get a metal stand for the 180 gallon tank? Can I use a metal stand and just put wood panelling around it so it looks a custom built wood stand?

Thanks! =)

Johnny at North American fish breeders built my tank " Looks Great " Don't exspect it to be on time... He's a very busy guy LOL.. Ask him when it will be available or give him a deadline time well in advance..Trust Me

I have been using an H&S on my 84 gallon tank. I used to have an ER knock-off which worked pretty well, but the H&S (which is smaller and quieter) was much better. I get really dark and nasty skimmate. If you are using an in-sump model and your water level is low in the sump, you will get some noise that comes from the output pipe as the water falls into the sump. My water level in the sump is just below the outlet and I can't hear the thing with the cabinet doors closed.
