Hi there
I would like to know if it is legal to collect and keep some anemones on the shores of Stanley Park? And Are they easy to keep? What species are they? I would like to bring some back in Qc and put them in my SW Tank.

Thanx

As far at the legality is concerned I can't answer that. But transporting may be the big concern. From BC to PQ is a long way.
And even under the best packaging your new capture will likely to be stressed out.
Inspect the water in the bag/box for discolouration/cloudiness and an odour. These things spell stress. I can't find the link I was looking for to describe this.
Proper acclimation proceedures are important.
Sorry I can't be more help. As I barely know what I'm talking about.
Please, if you do this, post some pictures.
I have been in/to Stanely Park several times. I had no idea you could collect an anenome from those waters.
good luck

I think your main problems would be the difference in temperature btween what that anemone is used to and the temperatures a reef is at.
Also as trent mentioned, It would be a chalenge to detach without damaging and transport the anemone unless you were detaching and flying that day. Not sure on the legality of it, but i can't see it being a problem. You can take fish, clams, muscels, other shell fish etc on the east coast. I know you can't take lobster without a comercial license. If you find out the do's and don'ts please let us know.
