Just got my new RO/DI unit from AJ, and have a question for the group, what kind of TDS readings are you getting on incomming water - I live in a smaller town in South West Ontario, and my TDS is anywhere from 390 - 450. My house is only 2 yrs old and in a new subdivision, but does have copper plumbing.

What is everyone else getting as far as a TDS reading?

PS - I used to use a Brita filter for top off, and for curiousity, tested the "pure" Brita water, and it was still about 300 ppm TDS vs the RO/DI unit at a current reading of 5ppm.

Thanks,

Mark Lassam

Mark,

TDS levels will vary greatly. It depends on where your water comes from. If you draw from granite, you will have low TDS levels.

Here we draw from limestone, and the TDS is around 225ppm.

FYI, if your product water TDS is 5 and raw water is over 300, that is excellent. The systems do not always work that well. Alot depends on what is in your water to begin with.

Salt is easier to reject then some other dissolved solids. So maybe your water has some salt. Hard to say with out a test.

Glad you got your unit, I hope you really enjoy it. PS forget britta, use the RO for drinking!

Mark,

In Brampton...I get between 170 & 250ppm TDS at the tap...out of my RO/DI = 0.00ppm.

If you want to lower the output of TDS even more...you can add a second DI stage to your unit to remove some more. I would say that getting your raw water down to 5ppm is GREAT though.

Do make sure that you replace your filters within the proper time-frames though...or your DI and RO membrane will suffer in the end.

**BTW - your spare filters shipped out today**

Enjoy!! :D
