My male is holding eggs for the second time! This time I'm going to let him (hopefully) spit them out (and provide the babies cover) in my display, and then try moving the babes to a seperate raising tank.

Just wanted to boast

Of course I'll hook up all my friends.. with some 'friendly' prices! :)

Unfortunely, he spit them out again. I'm increasing his feeding again in hopes he'll hold them 'till full term next time, but I don't know how much more this guy can eat! He's already very well fed. Oh well, there's always next time.

when did he spit them out? did he spit them out when you tried to move him?

Well, the first time he was holding them I tried to move him into his own tank as I've read that some people do. Although I kept the 'chase' very short, the stress must have got to him because he spit them out as soon as he hit the water in the new tank. I know it wasn't water quality because the tank is connected to the diplay I took him out of.

About two weeks and lots of feeding, he was holding again. This time I just left him in the diplay. I planned to put a surrogate diadema urchin in there and let him spit them out in the display; I would then try and move the babies to the smaller tank.

But, alas, after a little over a week he spit them out and ate them. Since nothing has changed, I can only assume he wasn't fat enough to hold them any longer...

try try again!
