Hey AJ? Are you doing some upgrades? Or is it just slow on my end?

Thanks
Michael.

Haven't been home all day...

I'll reboot the server later tonight to release any memory hogs just to make sure...but it shouldn't be on this end.

I noticed that as well for the past few days I thout was rogers service but no problems @ Mops & Reef central, every time I press on a thread takes good 10 seconds to open up, maybe time to add up more memory...lol

Likely just Apache needing a reboot.

I'm not even @ 10% memory usage on the server.

I'll reboot in a few minutes...

Is it just me or is anyone else finding the site really slow again? It takes forever for pages to load.

Server is running @ 12% capacity - so it's not the server.

Due to the issues with the storms in the US - there are many ISP routers that are down - thus this could be causing some delays in browsing the internet.

I have spoken to our hosting company - and they MAY be doing some upgrades to their systems over the next day or so...so this might cause some connectivity issues with AP.ca.

Due to the rapid growth of the AP.ca Community...I am having our host upgrade our server to accomodate our growth...so please bear with us while we situate any issues.

Thanks for your co-operation & understanding...

AJ - what about the database? How are your r/w on the database?

I noticed that it seemed to take a really long time to do any sort of DB query or update. The site however *sometimes* loads fast, sometimes its deathly slow.

I know that from a connectivity perspective, it is not my connections as the company that I work at has extremely large internet pipes in/outgoing.

I actually spoke with Sprint and MCI today in regards to our links here at work. I asked them about any slowdowns in the internet as a result of the storm. They said that they have not seen any major loss of service or impacts as a result at this time.

I also dont think its weather related as when Michael first reported the slowness, it was before the storm had hit.

Only trying to help....so I am guessing you may have some database issues (data corruption maybe) or a script that is running that shouldnt be.....I dont know, just seems like DB performance issues to me along with the bandwidth issues.

Nope... DB is fine...and server is running at less then 10% of capacity (including bandwidth).

Even the host has said that there have been some (internet-wide) slow-downs lately...they are working with their partners (ie. Rogers/Shaw/etc.) to keep the sites it hosts (over 20,000) running properly. Our host's network daily average is 40% of its capacity, with midday peak spikes reaching only 60% capacity.

But thanks for the input.
